Nori said Finch was at the coaches’ meeting, but his illness got worse throughout the day. Finch stayed away from the team in case he was contagious.

Other players needed to step up. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jock Landale took over: Both frontcourt players recorded their first double-doubles of the season in the win against the Timberwolves. Jackson led the Grizzlies (13-14) with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Landale added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Anthony Edwards scored 35 points, Julius Randle added 22, and the Minnesota Timberwolves completed a season sweep of the Washington Wizards with a 141-115 rout.
