Extremely cold weather isn't going away soon for a swath of the United States from Texas to New England, as impacts from a deadly winter storm linger.

Temperatures dropped as low as 39 in Vero Beach, 38 in Fort Pierce and the mid-40s in Stuart on the morning of Jan. 28, according to meteorologist Brendan Schaper.

Thursday in the Philadelphia region will be another frigid day with a high of 20 degrees and feels-like temperatures of 9 degrees.

A weekend winter storm appears poised to scrape past the New Jersey coast on Sunday.

We'll have some colder temperatures on Friday with lows starting in the 20s and highs in the mid-40s. Then another front comes in Friday night and it gets colder still.

"Arctic air produces dangerously low wind chills tonight into Friday morning," the National Weather Service said.

The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for most of New England including Gardner, which is expected to last until at least 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30.
