The WXII 12 First Warning Weather Team is tracking a significant winter storm that will impact North Carolina.

A major winter storm is expected to impact northeast Oklahoma beginning Friday, bringing accumulating snow, possible ice, and dangerously cold temperatures through the weekend. A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for much of the state, including the Tulsa metro, as forecasters monitor a powerful system stretching across the southern Plains.

Parts of north Georgia are currently under a winter storm watch.

It's looking more likely that there will be a significant snowstorm in the Philadelphia region this weekend. A system will be moving toward the East Coast from the southwest, and snow looks to arrive late Saturday night.

Winter storm to bring heavy snow and ice this weekend across the southern and eastern U.S. Forecasters say it could be one of the most significant winter events this season. The fast-moving winter storms could dump foot or more of snow in portions of the Great Lakes and interior New England through this weekend.
